8171-DBU Memory Limit

Can I increase the Memory on my S51-8171-DBU to 8GB or more?  If not, what is the limit, and is there a work-around?  (i.e. BIOS change, etc).  Thanx

Re: 8171-DBU Memory Limit

It appears that the Physical limitation of the computer is 2GB.

in which case it will not matter if you have a 64 bit OS or a 32, the computer will just not accept more than 2GB.

Re: 8171-DBU Memory Limit

Thanks for your consistent feedback.  I have 4 memory slots, and I found at least one place where I can buy 4x1GB to the required specs, but all things considered, I am convinced that it would not work anyway.  I installed 4x512MB and and Win7 and it runs very nicely indeed.
