I have an S50 (8183) Thinkcentre, P4 3Ghz and 1GB RAM.
When the computer boots/POST there is a long series of beeps, perhaps 30 and then it proceedes to boot normally and load Windows. All devices work and appear in the device manager. I can find no faulty hardware devices.
Anyone know why this happens or how to stop it? I see no obvious options in the BIOS setup.

Download IBM Hardware Maintenance Manual in .pdf and read pages 69-70 (pp. 76-77 in Adobe). It explains the beep messages.
S50-8183 Hardware Maintenance Manual
Hope you find your answer in the manual.

It's not in the manual.
It turns out that it is the USB keyboard. For some reason the computer is erroring out on the replacement USB keyboard. I attached a PS2 KB and all is well.
