why is my avatar keep on resetting, is there some sort of policy restricting the use of personal avatars?? Do we have to stick using the same old boring avatars from the classic list???

For now, yes.  It was a glitch in the update that opened it up briefly, but we closed the hole.

But why does vijaysaradhi have the indian flag logo, is that part of the classic avatar too?? 

In addition, when are we going to able to review past posts?

I dont know whats happening with the avatars,but flags were used as logos long before you got registered here.I have seen people use Canadian and German flags on the forums atleast in their signatures.

I dont believe i am breaking forum rules by using this logo..if you feel i am doing something wrong you can contact the mods,let me know if this is a wrong step i took.

There are two queries regarding some forum functionalities i thought which the gurus can also be provided with

1.Adding the "solution?" mechanism by gurus (If its possible) to posts 

2.I was unable to edit my own posts within the FAQ's section.It would be nice if we could at least edit our own posts there.

vijaysaradhi i am not saying that you are doing anything wrong, i am simply pointing out that your flag is not included in the classic list and it is in fact from an external site. So what am i trying to get to is whether there is different rules for guru... and the other forum members regarding avatar selection.

Why i have this logo is because i choosed it and wanted to test how the new avatar  works.I regret that you had to compare something by using my name,i totally feel offended.The best thing you should have done is contacted the MODS thats what i do..I am sure they will clear your doubts.

Offended by what?? I used your name?? Hum you are the only guru whom is using an avatar from external website, which is not included in the classic list. This feature was open before to all users, but recently they closed it and stated that it is no longer available to users. So i was interested in whether that the Gurus have extra privileages that other users don't.

Also, the American and Canadian flags are included in the classic avatars. I don't like to bother people with private messages, when information like this is useful for all the people whom are interested.

But sorry if i offended you by mentioning your name and would never to speak about you.

gurus now have the ability to link to external avatars just like mods and admins.   this permission was given to the guru role when the new code was introduced.   we don't allow external avatars for standard users because we don't want to chase down the misuse of various images and trademarked logos.   if we see gurus use unapproved or inappropriate images, they will be changed accordingly.

eventually we will be expanding the avatar gallery and offer lenovo product images for use as avatars.   i can't say what the timeline will be for this feature.   i'm the one responsible for this and will be completing the images in my free time.   please understand that it could be up to a month or two before i get around to it.   the more important goal right now is in fixing bugs, not creating avatars.

regarding reviewing old posts, we're aware of the issue and will be looking into it.   all of us are volunteers here working during our free time.   it's been two days since you brought this to our attention so i ask that you're patient while we locate and fix bugs.   the forum code is written by another company so it takes a specified amount of time to report issues and get a response.

I am aware of that thanks for bringing that up, while the guru in question (sorry i am not allowed to mention him)thinks i am somehow personally targeting him for some reasons.
