Dear Mark
After months of research, numerous comparisons, and 6+ weeks of anticipation, I received my T400 yesterday.
I am a detail-oriented, afficionado of quality control. For many years I had experience with the reliability, durability, and stellar performance of an array of Thinkpad T40 and T60 models at a large corporation - these were a pleasure to work on and service for coworkers.
This particular T400 keyboard exhibits flex unlike the NMB keyboards of the past. I type an awful lot. What may I do to remedy the situation? I joined this forum today if only to request the old-style keyboard. Your help is appreciated.
Model 2764CTO
Regards

DrewinPA,
I've received and responded to you PM today.
All,
I still have a large number of unread PM's to work through and expect to complete that work this week and communicate with all those who have made requests through end of yesterday. I am not accepting new requests for replacement keyboards beyond this point.
I have updated Tim's Solution Post in this thread which explained the exception process under which we had been operating until the long term solution was introduced to manufacturing.
To recap, in November, we shifted manufacturing back to the prior design keyboards as much as possible (given the 22 different language versions, demand, and supply) until a strategic update was introduced. While not a warranty defect, we recognized there were variables of tolerance and individual perception, and provided a mechanism here through the forum to provide the prior design keyboards in order to ensure satisfaction for those who had a concern.
Beginning in March 2009, new T400/500 and W500 systems include additional chassis supports which ensure no matter which keyboard is used, there should be no abnormal flex exhibited on the left side of the system.
As this exception process was operated for approximately three months, and a full month of new system production has elapsed, we believe that sufficient time has elapsed for members who had a concern to come forward.
Best regards,
Mark
