Hi,
recently i received my Y430 with 32 GiG HDD. D: was ~30 gig and rest was on c:\ ( a large C
.
can some one please tell me if i can reduce the size of c:\ safely without losing the OKR functionality?
i heard/read somewhere that OKR will not work if the size of c:\ is changed.
i want to create another partition and install Linux there.
Thanks in advance...

I have a Y510, and am pretty good with computer workings until it comes to hard drives....I'm lost as a Easter Egg! Generally speaking, I have checked the capacity and available space available on my hard drives and found the following which seems out of balance. My "Local Disc C" has only 1.87 GB free of a total 29.2 GB. My "Lenovo D" has 188 GB of 188 GB free, which means that nothing is saved to that hard drive.
Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what is going on? Also, is there any way to change this without losing data?
Thanks for any help!

My laptop is a one year old Y510 Ideapad running Windows VIsta, with 2G RAM and 250G hard disk. I have only 803 MB free on C and 145 G free on D. I have moved as many of the programs that I installed from C to D, but the system won't let me deleete them from C, even though I am logged on as Administrator. How can I delete the redundant programs still on C, and also how can I designate auto updates, or driver updates to install on D instead of C. Do they have to be installed on the OS partition C? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I have a Y510, and everything winds up on my "Local Disk C"...nothing on "Lenovo D". Problem is that I am having to delete things on "C" to make room, and not really sure why "D" is not being used. Needless to say, "D" has 6 times the space, so I would love to know what to do here. Anyone have any suggestions.

pencilman, pds6138,
sometimes you jsut can't free space and means that C drive should be growed up a bit. As result you'll lose NOVO button functionality of restoring to factory but you still can download OKR 6 software by lenovo and create your own backup disks, so loss of NOVO function will not hurt too much.
As for changing sizes of C and D - try EASEUS partition master.

Skripatch - please help!
While trying to clean up my hard drive (disk C
, I removed hibernation files - about 3GB through my disk cleanup. However, now I do not have this feature available. I tried to use the advanced power options, with no help. How can I get back the hibernate sleep feature on my Y510? Thanks, ican

I'm not the most technologically savvy person in the world, and I apolgize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong place. About 8 months ago, the hard drive in my Y510 died. It was under warranty, I shipped it back to Lenovo, and they shipped it back to me with a new hd. Tonight I thought I'd better think about backing up my files to my D: drive like the tech had told me to do, but when I went to do it, I got message telling me the D: drive is not formatted.
I have 2 1/2 questions:
1) Should the D: have been formatted before it was shipped back to me?
2) Will the system walk me through formatting D:?
2 1/2) If it does, do I have to worry about my files on C: being erased? (I would think not, but would hate to find out the hard way.
I'd have just contacted tech support, but the number I used to call seems to be no longer listed and the "enter your info" business isn't finding my info.
Thank you!

drclemente,
1) Technicallty yes but it's not important
2) No
3) No
You just format your drive D (right-click on it in "Computer' and chose "Format") into NTFS with standart cluster size using quick formatting method.
