What brand SSD is FRU 43y4831?

Hi All,

I have a W700 on order with 2 SSDs. The FRU is 43y4831. Most folks have said they are receiving Samsung drives, but this FRU is not one that has been mentioned.

Anybody know what this is?

Thanks in advance!

Re: What brand SSD is FRU 43y4831?

43Y4831 is the generic part number used on the build sheet for the 128GB SSD option.   you won't know the actual FRU number until you're given the serial number of your system.   once you have your serial, you can look up your system parts here.

in any case, the only 128GB SSD FRU number i can find in the system being configured with the W700 is 41W0519.   this is, indeed, a samsung drive.   it's a 1.8" micro-SATA drive and ships with a 1.8" to 2.5" adapter.   this is most likely what you will receive with your system.

[ Edited ]

Thanks very much Erik!

There has been some talk on other forums about the hardware and firmware

levels of the Samsung SSDs being shipped by Lenovo being a bit "back level".

Do you (or anybody else) know about these suppossed problems?

Re: What brand SSD is FRU 43y4831?

i'm not personally aware of any firmware issues.

the revision of firmware customers receive will depend entirely on the batch of drives being installed at the time.   this depends on current inventory and what is supplied by the manufacturer.   unfortunately i cannot say what you will get or how new it may be.

fwiw, i received a samsung SSD in one of my thinkpads earlier this year and the firmware was newer than what was  available through samsung at the time.   sometimes you just get lucky. :smileywink:

Yeah,

This is why I ordered the least expensive hard drive and replaced it with an Intel X-25M.
