Hi, my hard drive was just replaced. Now I cannot find the option to connect to my wireless-G rounter in Network Connections or figure out how to set it up. I assume I need a driver, and thought I downloaded the correct driver but am stuck on what to do next. I'm not a techie but am very familiar with my computer. Thanks

Hi miamimd1,
What is 7 character product number of your R51? I ask because it can come with either one of the four given wireless cards from different manufacturers/ with distinct models:-

Additionally, most lenovo drivers require Windows XP at SP2 point to be present so first make sure you have it. Second, installing lenovo drivers can get tricky sometimes. For any driver, simply downloading and running the setup does not install it. installing lenovo drivers is a two step process namely extraction of the file to a location the first setup file chooses [by default typically C:\Drivers\..] and secondly going to that location and running the actual driver's setup.
The instructions are given on all pages for lenovo drivers:-
[Extracting file]
- Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges on the target computer.
- Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
- Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
- In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in Extracting File Step 5.
[Installing files]
- Make sure the checkbox next to Install ..... now is checked and clickFinish.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart the computer.
