Hi All,
Last year (Apr 2008), I brought a lenovo R61i model 774223A. Last March, it suddenly stopped responding and displays a garbled screen from moment I switch on the unit. Luckily, I still have 5 days of warranty left and rushed it to it's service center. Surprisingly, after 3 days, they notified me that the unit is repaired with it's system board replaced.
Unfortunately the problem recurred again last JUNE!! What is going on!?? is there a hidden defect with this model? I have seen some similar problems happening in T61 users with the same video card NVS140M. We need answers Lenovo!!!! IBM had built a great reputation of it's ThinkPad line and looks like you've ruined it in 3 years record time!!
Anyone here can help???????

the Nvidia GPU has defects due to a bad batch they produced, it affected all laptops that used this GPU, from Macbook Pro to HP laptop, this problem is not limited to Lenovo Thinkpad.

Since the the nVidia component had failed, did they take actions on these defective/poor quality chips? It has affected a LOT of notebook users even if your warranty is still good, you'll end up with the same defective item (where problem will most likely recurr). Frankly I'm upset about it. =(
I just brought a T400 as a replacement with an ATI graphics card & hoping it would be as reliable as I expect it to be else I wouldn't consider nor recommend Lenovo's product.
Now my notebook is just sitting on one corner of my room as a dust collector *sigh* Maybe i'll use it as a chopping board as seen on the ad.
