Re: Tips for blue screen (BSOD) errors with Windows Vista and Intel Turbo Memory on T61/T61p

Maybe someone else would like to try this and confirm my results, but after updating to the latest bios, 2.17-1.08 , it seems as though I am no longer getting the BSOD w/turbo memory and APS enabled running on battery. I also have disabled power management of the hybrid storage device. So far so good.

Phantom Intel Turbo Memory on T61/T61p ?

My understanding was that the Turbo Memory was an option, and I ordered this machine without it.

But, on checking the Services and Processes lists in the Task Manager, I find that the Intel Turbo Memory SERVICE is installed, active, and RUNNING.

I'd like to disable the services that are bpogus on this machine, so it will among other things be leaner and more stable and start and stop faster.

Can I assume that if I didn't order the Turbo Memory Option, and the Device Manager shows no "Intel Turbo Memory" listing, that the service was installed by a brain-dead disc imaging, and it can be set to DISABLE?

Still getting a BSOD STOP 0xD1 with HDD corruption using Turbo memory,  even with latest 1013 drivers from Lenovo site. Only current solution is to disable ReadyDrive. When will this get fixed?

Hello.

I've both this notebook aprox. 3 months for use it exclusively for business ( Architecture drawings - Archicad 11 and Structural Detailing - Revit Structure Suite 2009). I'm using it both in 2D CAD drawings and 3D Professional Rendering for presentation. My problems began with Blue Screens as you all told before me. First issue was about some nVIDIA .sys driver. Desperately i called my vendor and asked him about this problem. He give me one solution : a problem with factory install.....reinstall your system using Recovery partition. So....i done it...2 days of work lost to reinstall all my programs, back-up files, etc.
The wonder was aprox. 1 week, when in a complex 3D rendering process the wonderful Blue Screen appears telling me that is a problem with iNavstor.sys. From that moment on every time i tried to solicit a little bit more my T61p, the Blue Screen appears again. Desperately, AGAIN (!!!), i called my vendor and asked him about this problem. He told me there is o general problem with T61p running Intel Turbo Memory and the solution was : UNINSTALL AND PHYSICALLY DELETE THE DRIVER, DISABLE IT FROM DEVICE MANAGER !!!. I did it .....and till now (yesterday i fond this forum - shame on me !!!) my notebook works wonderful. No BSOD, no nothing. So my little advice to you is : "UNINSTALL AND PHYSICALLY DELETE THE DRIVER, DISABLE IT FROM DEVICE MANAGER that m.... f..... Intel Turbo sh... Memory till a good driver or a good BIOS version or something else appear.

NOTE:
             - I'm not tested any games
             - I have only Windows Updates installed on. No Lenovo drivers Update.
             - Excuse my poor English language

Best regards and I'll wait for your reply.

Re: Tips for blue screen (BSOD) errors with Windows Vista and Intel Turbo Memory on T61/T61p

Will also add my observations:

I have got the T61p with Turbo Mem and Active Protection System on. It works awesome as long as I dont move. (1013 turbo mem driver plus bios 1.08 and also the rest should be up to date). After a while of moving while sitting on the couch the system will eventually freeze. I verified it several times by moving intentionally and as soon as the APS locks the HD the system hangs... Now I am not sure if I should disable APS or Turbo Mem.... although when I think about it: I never had APS in my previous notebooks and none of them died from a HD crash....

Are you sure the ASUS drivers are working with the Thinkpad? I have some doubts since the APS technology is not available in ASUS?

Re: Tips for blue screen (BSOD) errors with Windows Vista and Intel Turbo Memory on T61/T61p

Asus just posted INTEL (original drivers), the are just the same as they would be released by "Lenovo", but lenovo will release them 2-4 months later, same drivers, same version...

As dell released never Nvidia quadro nvs 140m version 7.15.11.7431 (=) 174.31 which preforms much better in 3d/gaming performance (3d mark score) and even increase aero "perfomance" from 4.0 to 4.1 for my notebook = T61.....
