System Update 3.14 fails to connect to proxy server

Hi,

 

I went to use System Update yesterday and the process started. At 17%, the updating process stops with following message:

 

"Unable to connect to the proxy server"

 

I'm running AVG 9.0 Internet Security, yet I have run the System Update with firewall disabled but to no avail.

 

I have uninstalled System Update and reinstalled it as per the instructions in the support documents. However, this has not resolved the issue.

 

Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions available?

I had exactly the same problem on my Vista T500 using IE8.

After calling Lenovo support, they had me uncheck a proxy setting in IE8.

I am using a French Vista so my explanation could be approximate.

 

In IE8, go to Tools -Options - Connections tab, Lan Settings button at the bootom right and uncheck all boxes.

Unknown to me, my daughter had to check one of the boxes to get a connection working to access her school. After I unchecked the boxes, the System update executed without a problem.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, those boxes are already unchecked, so back to square 1. Thanks for your help though
