I'm running Vista-64 on a W700, with all ThinkVantage updates applied.
30% of the disc space inside my "Program Files (x86)" directory is occupied by files inside this directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\System Update\session
it appears to contain copies of all the installers that I've downloaded and installed over the past several months.
This directory currently occupies over 3 GB.
Is there any reason to not purge these files, and can anyone explain why they're being stored here?

After some research I can now answer my own question:
Yes, it's ok to remove most files from inside the \Lenovo\System Update\session directory. You should however NOT remove the following files from this location:
system
temp
QuestResponse.xml
updates.ser
and I'd maybe add billboard to this list.
I saved almost 3 GB by removing these files. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I find it quite offensive that some punk programmer and his manager decided that it was ok to waste this much disc space, rather than do the right thing and clean up afterwards.
Thanks to those who originally contributed this info to the prior threads on this subject.
