TVUR and Windows 7

[ Edited ]

Does anyone know the roadmap for Update Retriever, and if it will also be updated to support 7 anytime?  TVSU and Thininstaller pointed to our local repository are major parts of our corporate imaging process...  Thanks!

You'll see Update Retriever and ThinInstaller for WIn7 in November.  The big focus for Oct. 22nd has been the "end-user" tools.  Glad to see the interest in those products!

Update Retriever for Win7?

I'm in the process of setting up a deployment method for Windows 7 using MDT 2010.  It's pretty hard to get all the drivers together that I need even for a single model right now.  It would be really nice to configure my image deployment process to run system update from a local repository to install all needed drivers for Windows 7.

Unfortunately Update Retriever is not set up to use Windows 7 yet.  Is this in the works?  Can we expect it any time soon or do I need to figure something else out? (albeit much more time consuming and difficult)

It seems that Update Retriever for W7 will become available during November, see here.

Re: Update Retriever for Win7?

Third week of November is what I am hearing from TVUR development.  The TVUR guys also do TVSU, so the focus was on getting TVSU up and available.

Re: TVUR and Windows 7

I too would like to know when an updated version of UR will become available.  I have managed to get the current one to download win 7 stuff but it is only getting a fraction of what I see on teh web site for my win 7 systems.

currently using version 3.0.0016

Modified reg key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Update Retriever\Preferences\UCSettings\General\oslist

so it would recognize win7 systems when you download them.

However still working on how to be able to get them recognized when managing the repository.

Re: Update Retriever for Win7?

zouleous have you had any trouble getting the drivers into MDT 2010 for the builds?  I am running into some problems with the W500.

Re: Update Retriever for Win7?

So far I haven't imported any drivers in to MDT 2010.  I'm just finishing up building a reference image using a T61.  The necessary network and mass storage drivers are already in PE and Windows 7 so I didn't need to worry about them.  I may have to import drivers for other models...I'm not sure yet.

My current plan is to try pushing the reference image to a destination computer and then initiate System Update to check a local respository for any drivers needed.  I'm eagerly awaiting the releae of Update Retriever with Windows 7 support so I can set that up.
