Hi gilly-beans, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
It will help the community help you if you post the model number of your display, and the operating system you are using on the computer.

Ah, allright, I just thought it would be something stupidly obvious such as:
''Enable usb ports on screen''
Operating system: Windows Vista Business
Model number: (As in the number of the screen?) Well I can see Thinkvision.. AHAH! L220X Wide. MTM: 4433-HB2
S/N: ******... and some crazy bar code
Is that what you needed?
Moderator edit: Masked the serial number to prevent anyone from misusing it.

Aha! A ThinkVision L220x. I have one of those and I like it a lot.
All that should be needed for the USB to work is to connect the USB port on the back of the monitor to your computer using the cable which came with the monitor. The monitor has a USB hub built into it.
No extra software or settings shoud be necessary - the hub should be detected and the drivers set up automatically the first time you plug in.
