Can I Turn Off TouchPad?

When I am using the trackpoint my wrist keeps touching the touchpad moving my cursor around. Is there any way to turn off the touchpad? I am running Windows 7 on a W500.

Re: Can I Turn Off TouchPad?

I tried Fn - F8 but it doesnt give me any options to disable the touchpad.

I installed Windows 7 recently but did not install all of the Thinkvantage software.  is there is a specific piece of Thinkvantage software that provides more functionality to Fn-F8 ?

At a minimum, you will need to download the System driver, (Hot Keys only if you want the Fn-F8 capability) and Ultranav applications to have full control over the touchpad.

Re: Can I Turn Off TouchPad?

I have windows 7 on my W500.  I am also struggling to turn off the touch pad.  Very often my wrist hits it while typing and changes the cursor position - very annoying.  As far as I know I have all the updates.  Fn + F8 does not give an option to disable the touch pad.  Please help!

This is what I had to do when I did a "clean" Windows 7 install.  Once I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 Hot Key driver, I got the Fn-F8 fuctionallity, as well as the capability for onscreen displays for volume and screen brighness.

Yes,

I do have a pop up for mouse properties.  There are no controls for the touchpad.  Am I missing something here?  Thanks for the help.

Re: Can I Turn Off TouchPad?

You will need 2 pieces of software for complete control of the stick and touchpad. You'll need the Ultranav Driver and also the Ultranav Utility. I suggest uninstalling any Ultranav related software you have loaded, rebooting and then install the Driver first followed by the Utility. Or, after rebooting, you can let System Update program (version 4 for Win7) do all the updating for you.
