I just got the ThinkPad/Lenovo W500 with integrated webcam. It seems that when the laptop is docked, the system can recognize the webcam (I can see "Integrated Webcam" is listed under Scanners and Cameras in Control Panel) but it is gone when the laptop is undocked. Anyone know the reason why?
While the laptop is docked, I tried installing a 2nd webcam but the 2nd webcam failed to initialize when I plugin the USB of 2nd webcam. Is there a way to disable the integrated webcam while the laptop is docked but enable it while it is undocked?
Thanks,
Ken

Hi Kendodo,
You can disable/enable any device this way:
1) Go to device manager
2) Expand the area where the device you want to change is located
3) Right click it
4) If the device is able to be disabled then there is a choice on the menu for that
5) Select either "disable" or "enable", depending on the current state of the device

Usually the webcam application, like Skype, will give you the choice of which webcam to use. Since you have Skype preloaded, you might give it a test run.
