I've had the exact same problem. I signed up on October 5th and never received an email acknowledging my order, no notification that my proof of purchase was received.....nothing. Calls to customer service have been absolutely pointless, as have emails. They basically have no way to check the status of an order, and when I press further all I'm told is, "Sir, please be patient. After the 22nd you'll be contacted by the appropriate department."
Anyone have any tips? I'm incredibly frustrated with this entire situation.

I'd just like a straight answer one way or another. If I knew right now it wasn't going to work out I'd just go ahead and buy it as a student through microsoft. I wonder if there are any issues with legality here - collecting personal/billing information and refusing to provide records or documentation?

There is relevant information on the progress of Lenovo upgrades in the WIndows 7 Launch forum here on the Lenovo community, for those who care to look.
Cheers,

I was astounded to discover the 'free' Windows 7 will cost $30US shipping from Canada. This is quite a farce. Why can I not simply receive a serial number for free. Or send it via postal mail, which will cost $3. I run Ubuntu on my t400s full time (which works very well), but understood I could recieve an upgrade to Windows 7 to help support my customers as part of this purchase. This is quite a cheap and deceitful move on Lenovo's part.
I realize there was another thread on this topic, but the messages I read were not helpful and I'm not going to read 110 messages to try to find a helpful nugget (no one should be forced to do this in this age of pinned messages and wikis).

Hello out there.
Has anyone received your Win7 upgrade for newer systems, purchased after June running Vista? or even heard anything new for the Ideapads? Can't seem to find any info lately as the Windows 7 free upgrade forum is now read only. (Now that most thinkpads got the upgrade) Got an e-mail stating Win7 for Ideapads would be going out mid Nov. Can't find out the status on my Y550 on the Windows 7 upgrade page. Any new info would be great! Thanks
