Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

It's sad how Lenovo is ignoring the comments why they are charging ridiculous shipping fees for the supposed "FREE" Windows 7 upgrade.

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

It's really outrageous to charge $17.03 for a free upgrade.  Well, I didn't really go thru the Lenovo-lexicon-ary and understand the *freeness* before I placed the order.  Oh well, live and learn I guess :smileyhappy:

On top of it, Lenovo's upgrade site is totally broken.  I registered at least three times and got a bunch of emails confirming that the serial number is valid and directed me to place the order.  So, I went ahead and placed an order and get a confirmation email stating that I need to send the proof of purchase again.  I wonder what happened to the proof of purchase that I sent them three times earlier (and got emails confirming the serial number is valid as well).

Clueless!

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

Did any of you that went through and signup for the this upgrade received a confirmation that your order got accepted ?

I only got the email requesting the proof of purchase to be emailed, faxed or mailed back. So I emailed them my invoice to Lenovoauto@mentormediacorp.com but I have not heard anything since a month ago.

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

Lenovo keeps screwing up all the time. This isn't an isolated problem, everyone is having the same problem.

Same with me. Send proof of purchase 2 weeks ago. Still no action. Not even an ack that the proof of purchase is recieved.    I keep on checking the status on website everyday and is is stuck at  "Pending for proof of Purchase". I guess i am just wasting my time. They say that proof of purchase is to be sent within 2 weeks after it is asked. How on earth i will know if it is received or not unless they acknowledge it. Customer care says don't expect any update till Oct 22nd.  How ridiculous!! It looks like Lenovo doesn't care about its customers.  Otherwise somebody would have been held responible for all this mess.   How difficult is for Lenovo to put up a process flow chart explaining the upgrade process with timelines for everystep.   On top of all that $17 for a supposedly free upgrade.  I would be a fool to buy lenovo again.

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

On Aug 24 I applied for the Windows 7 upgrade.

On the same day, I got the "Kindly proceed to submit your proof of purchase..." email.

I scanned my packing slip and emailed it that day.

Later on the same day, I got an "automated response" email:

This is to acknowledge the receipt of your Proof of Purchase.

You will receive another notification email upon validation of your order.

If you have any enquiry, please click on the "CONTACT US" button in Order Status page.

*** This is a system generated email, please do not reply to this email ***

Have not received any more emails since.

By contrast, yesterday I got a SystemMax desktop from TigerDirect with a free Windows 7 upgrade.  It was a Microsoft upgrade coupon.  I went to the website and verified the Vista version and language.  It will ship for free on Nov 5 (estimate).

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

So some people got the acknowledgement atleast. This has got me more concerned. How come others did not get it.  Since this issue is affecting a lot of customers can we have somebody from Lenovo to respond to. I know this is not a official support forum but the customer care wasn't helpful either. So i don't know wher else to turn to and ask for help.

Re: Lenovo Announces Windows 7 upgrade program

LOL --- yeah, I am hosting a party and am psyched about  Win 7 --- but, have no clue how I'm going to handle the install... My plan is to do a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate --- Does this get rid of the Lenovo partition? Then, I can download TVSU (have to find the link) and let it install the rest of my Lenovo stuff (especially my fingerprint driver) for Win 7 --- we get the party package on October 10 or so --- I agree with a previous post that paying for a Lenovo disk to handle all the partition stuff/drivers/etc. makes a lot of sense ---

Anyway, I REALLY APPRECIATE all of the help from the MOD and others on this forum --- thanks a lot!
