Re: Win 7 upgrade program - delivery updates

It seems like all the emotion over Lenovo's handling of the Win 7 upgrade is at an all time high.  In my experience that's usually when major change occurs.  It wouldn't surprise me that delivery's in large quantities will be received this week.  But I don't predict the future.

My measure of corporate Lenovo is still the same:

They make good ThinkPads.

They service them well.

Lenovo ADR's continue to reflect a company with investor confidence.

Everything else is just static.

One year from now most Lenovo customers will have forgotten all this.

For me, I will forget it the minute the disc comes in the mail.  However, it is frustrating for them to have taken my $23 and then not communicate to me the status of my order other than that they are working on it.  At least give me an estimated shipping date or something.

I also think that some of the "I will never buy Lenovo again" crowd is being a little melodramatic, but I can understand some of the frustration, especially those that were depending on getting the upgrade in a timely fashion.

since i've already installed Windows 7 using our site license, is there a way to cancel my order and get a refund if my card has already been charged?

I agree with Contrarian.

Ibm and Lenovo have a good products. All my thinkpad have 3 years warranty and a never use them. This situation is bad for many reasons, but my next laptop as an other Thinkpad. I work with many IBM servers (Old and new ) and a have a very good services when a need it. In this case Lenovo is front, but i,m not sure about her responsibility. Where is the fail? I don't know but I guest MM. When I receive my kit, I forgot this nightmare !

Re: Win 7 upgrade program - delivery updates

I will never again purchase a computer just before a new OS release even if it's 3+ months away and there is a free upgrade. This has completely tarnished my opinion of free OS upgrades. I won't do it with Lenovo or any other company. $17? We want the "free" upgrade so I guess we'll pay anything won't we? Never again.

I'm still nervous about getting my parents upgrade for them and whether it will really happen, but the status has at least been upgraded to show me that they have my money. I will definitely be happier with Lenovo after all of this is over and taken care of the way it should have been, but I'll never forget.

Re: Win 7 upgrade program - delivery updates

Some new information.  Called Mentor.  By the way getting through is like being "lucky caller 13 on a radio station call in promotion".  Mentor confirmed that at least for my SKU, they only received the software from Lenovo TODAY.  They say they will ship it within 2 days.

The point of all this is that not all the delays are Mentor's fault.

Sfoeuroflyer:

Thanks for the info.  What kind of system do you have? Did they say how they were shipping it?

Re: Win 7 upgrade program - delivery updates

I have a T500 2081 and am waiting for Win7 Professional 64.

They said shipment would be by UPS and that I should expect and email upon shipment with tracking information.

Thanks for the update! Did they mention the type of shipping? For $17 I expect worldwide previous-day shipping.
