Hi, I have Windows xp home on a Thinkcentre 8808w7t.
I want to upgrade from xp to Vista to save my Lenovo programs and current programs on my pc so I can go onto windows 7.
Do you think this will work or am I going to have to do a clean install of windows 7?
I'm trying to find vista with a free windows 7 upgrade.

Hi qaz123,
I suggest saving SWTOOLS/SWSHARE folders and creating RnR recovery discs in advance. As for your current programs, they may or may not be compatible under Win 7 so I suggest checking lenovo and other vendor's websites for your installed programs to find whether any update is available for them.
Hope it helps.

Thanks-I can get a Vista Ultimate upgrade for less than a Windows 7 upgrade.
I can get a free upgrade to windows 7 with the purchase.
I feel better doing it that way just in case Windows 7 has unforeseen problems.
I made RR recovery disks so I can always go back to XP.
