Thank you all for the comments here. Now I know it's just not my X200. I am so embattled by the patheticness of this product, that I actually find this discussion pacifying. Here I thought my personality had altered, as tech support would treat me like an idiot. It's just the 'ol "Big Lie" theory of supporting a product that has issues that can't be or are chosen not to be dealt with.
This comment is productive in that it may help other exasperated owners know that they too are not crazy.
