X Series ThinkPad Laptops

Hi!

I have  a ThinkPad X40 2371-LG0. I did not use it for about two weeks and now it does not start.

The fan is spinning, and the power and battery leds are lit, but the screen is black. It does not boot or beep.

I think the bios might be dead, and I wonder if there are any bios binaries and howtos to reburn a broken bios chip?

Hopefully I'm not alone with this problem and maybe there are other solutions for this?

How do I know if a POST is performed if my screen is blank and no beeps heard?

take the ram sticks out and try to boot it without the ram modules, does your laptop beep?

X40 has one integrated ram module and one slot for expansion. That means that I have to solder the integrated one out. I have tried to take out the expansion stick without any results.

I had a desktop once that was infected with CIH. It had similar symptoms. That is why I want to try to reburn the bios. Please help me with documentation and howtos.

desktop bios and laptop bios are two different things, this is not easily done on the laptop (i am not sure even if it is possible without physically desoldering the bios and resoldering it on a working x40 motherboard). 

You are most likely up for a motherboard replacement.

Desoldering the bios-chip is not an issue. What I need is documentation that describes how to reburn this chip and a working dump-bin of the bios. There are very few differences between a desktop bios and a laptop bios.
