Hello All!
I am getting ready to purchase Windows 7. I just don't want to waste my money.
I have a z61m Thinkpad... has anyone had complete success upgrading all driver and systems so as to be able to smoothly run Windows 7?
Is it safe to get in the water? ![]()
Thanks
mm

Z61m is a powerful enough (and then some) machine to run W7 with no issues.
Whether you're going to like the experience is a whole different ballgame. I suggest downloading a 90-day trial from the MS site and "getting the feel" for what you're up against.
My $0.02 only...

Hi ajkula66,
Thanks for responding. My question is whether Lenovo has provided all the system and driver updates that are necessary for me to be able to smoothly run Window 7 on my Z61m Thinkpad?

A lot of drivers are available through the Windows update...I run W7 on my R6 FrankenPad which is not that different from your Z61m when it comes to hardware with no issues.
Trial and error...that's what my suggestion comes down to. Your call...

I have worked several months now with Windows7 on my Lenovo Z61m; All drivers were found through the automatic updates from Lenovo.

Just wondering if you have the integrated camera on your machine?
I have the Z61M 9450-39U and everything is working great, except the webcam which "disappeared" when I installed Windows 7.
